    Hi parents,

    Here's hoping that the good weather is here to stay!  Did you remember to "Spring Ahead" with the clocks for Daylight Savings TIme?

    *Spring Break starts this Friday!  We hope that you have a great week with your family and we will see all of our students back on March 26th.   All lockers will be cleaned out this week.  Please take a look at the lost and found if you're picking up a child!! It's overflowing!  All unclaimed items will be donated to Found4Kids after the break. 

    *Thank you to Mrs. Hofmann who has met with a few interested students about participating in the District Swim Competition.  If you have a child in grades 4-6 who can swim fairly well we would love to have them on the team!! They can see Mrs. Hofmann or Mrs. Gorman. 

    This week:

    Monday: Presentations of Learning for our intermediate students in the gym.  Please stop in from 1:00-3:00 to see some great projects!  Some primary classrooms are also having parents in afterschool.  Your child's teacher will have communicated to you if they are doing this.

    -Report Cards go home!  Please remember to return the envelope that the reports are in and please sign that you have received the report card.

    *Thank you to all of the Parkcrest families and students who helped us raise $310.70 at our school dances for the Kamloops YMCA/YWCA!  We will be announcing the families who won the family passes before Spring Break :)   

    *As our basketball seasons are winding up we would like to thank the coaches for their many hours of time spent working with our girls and boys teams!  Thank you Vaughn Willson, David Cruz, Dean Shaffi, Tyler Armstrong and Mr. Roszmann.  Also a huge thank you to Mr. Naylor for his excellent reffing skills for most of the games.  We wish our girls team luck this week in their playoff game on Tuesday! 

    *Thank you to the Grade 3 families in Mrs. Ellingsen's and Mrs. Trestain's class for coming to their Presentation of Learning evening at Brock Middle school on March 1.  What an amazing display of talent, knowledge and enthusiasm!  

    *Young Artists participants (students in grades 4-6) need to have their artwork and artist statement to Mrs. Stokes by Wednesday!

    *Gr. 4-6 students who are swimmers this is for you!!  We are hoping to enter a Parkcrest Elementary team  into the SD73 ELEMENTARY SWIM MEET April 18. Please talk to your child if they would like to participate so when a meeting is called you have already discussed this opportunity with them.  We would like to thank Mrs. Hofman for organizing this for our students :) 

    *PBIS goals!  Our Positive Behaviour Intervention System at Parkcrest is in full swing!  Our students are SOARing (Safe, Organized, Accountable and Respectful).  We have been working on how to enter the school quietly and calmly after recess and lunch....students worked so well at this that they earned an extra recess last week!  Our new goal is showing expected behaviours while eating lunch in their classrooms.  Students earned 531 tokens last week!

    *Our Aboriginal Education Worker, Ms. Christina Boyer is inviting all parents who can bring, send, or loan any hand drums to our students for practising drumming to please do so!  The purpose of this activity is to learn the traditional meaning of drumming, learn beats & sing traditional songs, gather in circle & respect a circle and listen with mind, body, heart and soul!  Sessions are for Grade 3-6 students and they are practicing weekly on Thursdays at 12:20.  Any interested parents are welcome to join as well! Please call Ms.Boyer at the school if you would like to come.

    Monday-Wednesday: "Let's Play Wheelchairs" are at Parkcrest to be used by our students in their gym classes.

    Tuesday: Girls Basketball playoff game at Parkcrest 2:30

    Wednesday-Friday: Grade 4,5,6 students at Harper for ski trip

    Intermediate Classes Presentation of Learning

    Please join our intermediate classes on Monday, March 12 from 1:00-3:00 in the afternoon to see their presentations of learning!  Students will be displaying and talking about a project they have been working on in their classes.  All parents are welcome!  Find them in the gym!

    Tuesday: Tier 2 Boys Playoff game at OLPH if they win on Monday

    Wednesday: Pink Shirt Day: We encourage all students to wear pink as a symbol to take a stand against bullying and to promote kindness to all.

    *Reminder that Kindergarten registration was held Feb. 13-16.  If anyone missed registering please come into Parkcrest with Birth Certificate, Care Card and Proof of address.  

    *Basketball Playoff notices will be coming home this week for Tier 2 teams.  Please note the difference in playing times and days. 

    *Please check our Lost and Found!  It's overflowing already!!!

    *Thank you to our PAC who sent out Cookie Grams to every student last on Valentines Day!  Also, thank you to our PAC for a successful pizza day on Thursday!

    *The weather continues to be somewhat challenging.  Please make sure that your child is coming to school prepared with proper winter clothing. 

    *Grade 6 Grad Hoodie orders must be in by Feb. 21. 

    *PARKING and Drop off and Pick Up:  We continue to have parents parking in the parking lot dropping off and picking up students.  We cannot reiterate how unsafe this is.  Please park in the Church parking lot, and if needed, walk your child across the cross walk.
